CEC Professor, Amy Pritchett, Appointed Head of Penn State Aerospace Engineering

JUNE 28, 2017 - Professor Amy R. Pritchett, founder of the Cognitive Engineering Center, has been appointed as the head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Penn State. She and her husband, Professor Eric Johnson will be leaving the Georgia Tech School of Aerospace Engineering to join the Penn State Aerospace Engineering faculty this fall.

As stated by the AE School Chair Dr. Vigor Yanghimself a former Penn State professor, "This is bittersweet for the AE School. The rigor and vision that Dr. Pritchett and Dr. Johnson bring to their respective disciplines is without peer. They have contributed enormously to the AE School's legacy. But as much as we will sorely miss them, we are proud of what they shared with us during their tenure at Tech and look forward to collaborating with them in the future."

Amr Elnashai, Penn State's Harold and Inge Marcus Dean of Engineering, spoke glowingly about : "Amy won over our community with her unique approach of technical rigor and sense of community. Her leadership style will undoubtedly propel the department to new levels of accomplishment while maintaining and even enhancing its technical and social fabric." He added, “To have a department head who is concurrently a top researcher is a great feature of Amy’s appointment. She will not only lead the academic programs in the department, but she will also play a pivotal role in its research enterprise."
